The people of Amakwa Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area recently celebrated their daughter, Dr. Miss Ugochi Nwizu, who brought laurels to the community through academic excellence.

 

The celebration, which commenced with a thanksgiving holy mass held at St Michael Catholic Church Ozubulu, attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, and featured a royal reception organized in honour of Dr. Nwizu at Igwe Fidelis Oruche palace at Ozubulu.

Dr Miss Nwizu, who is the third child of her father, studied medicine at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and came out as the best graduating student with over fifteen academic excellence awards from the Faculty of Medicine.

 

Earlier in his homily during the mass, the Episcopal Vicar, Ozubulu region and the Parish Priest of St Michael Catholic Church Ozubulu, Reverend Father Hyginus Aghaulo, who spoke on the feast of holy family, admonished Christian fathers and mothers to emulate the holy family of Joseph and Mary, who despite trials remain united, urging children to obey their parents just like the infant Jesus.

Reverend Father Aghaulo, who stressed on the importance of thanksgiving in the lives of Christians, commended the academic excellence of Dr Nwizu, whom he described as a humble and hard working girl, who has shown that had work pays, and urged other youths to emulate her.

 

Speaking to the ABS in an interview during the royal reception, the father of the celebrant, Chief Kenneth Nwizu, said her success was as a result of hard work, saying that his daughter is an easy going child, humble and committed to the things of God.

The host of the royal reception and the traditional ruler of Ozubulu, Igwe Oruche, applauded the unique intellectual ability of the Dr Nwizu, saying that the community decided to celebrate her in his palace in order to motivate other Ozubulu children to take their academics seriously, and as well make them know that hard works pays.

 

On their parts, the Traditional Prime Minister of Ozubulu, Chief Norbert Mbaegbu, and Sir Jude Mbaegu, said they have come to thank God and celebrate Dr Nwizu’s hard work and success with the aim of telling other youths who are still in school and those who are yet to gain admission that there is reward for hard work, advising her to work for humanity.

Other guests who spoke to the ABS, including Mrs. Joy Uche Mbaegu, Chief Austin Muoka, Sir Barth Nwakile, and Honorable Alious Anigbogu said Dr Nwizu has made them proud, adding that with the so many awards she bagged, the sky will be her starting point, calling on other students to emulate her hard work.

 

The celebrant, Dr Nwizu, who expressed joy and gratitude to God and same to Ozubulu community for celebrating her, noted that despite challenges she encounter while studying, her success story is attributed to perseverance and determination, even as she promised to keep on making her community and family proud.
