After over 32 years of dedicated service and contributions to the Finance and Accounts Directorate in NNPC, he retired as a General Manager in 2017.

Alongside his contributions to NNPC, Chief Umobi was also committed to the development of his hometown. He demonstrated a high interest in tradition and culture throughout his life and was an Ozo title holder. He was involved in political mobilization and contributed to strengthening the oil and gas, hospitality, transportation, and financial services industries in Anambra State. In 2016, he was honoured with the title of “Chi Na-Eme Eze” 1 of Ezinifite Aguata.

In church, Chief Umobi was instrumental to the establishment and completion of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Ezinifite, Aguata which earned him the recognition of the Diocesan Bishop, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese.

He was also the promoter and Chairman of Ezinifite Aguata Microfinance Bank Limited and Clarion Call Investment Limited – Clacil Energy – a petroleum products distribution and consulting firm. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Victory Express and Courier Services Limited.

“Benji” as he was fondly called lived an exceptional life. He was married to Mrs. Adaobi Marylilian Umobi and they were blessed with four children and two grandchildren.
