The Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke has dedicated the Chapel of Adoration at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Umuonyiba Ufuma.
The Chapel was built and donated to the church by Ogbaegwu Jesus and Mary Foundation.
The dedication was preceded by a thanksgiving mass in commemoration of one year memorial of late Mrs Bridget Nnebe, the mother of the founder and Chairman of Ogbaegwu Jesus and Mary Foundation Comrade Kennedy Nnebe.
Dedicating the Chapel, Cardinal Okpalaeke said love and kindness have chain reactions and enduring multiplier effects in the life of individuals and society at large.
He commended the donor for demonstrating sense of appreciation and gratitude as well as extolled the family members for their individual and collective sacrifices to actualize the Chapel project, urging other parishioners to invest in upgrading Church facilities to expand evangelism.
The Cardinal announced that a common room in the ongoing Spiritual Year Seminary project of the Diocese would be named after the late mother of the donor in recognition of his contributions to the project.
Also speaking, the Parish Priest, Very Reverend Father Lawrence Mmaduewesi expressed satisfaction with the completion of the Chapel, noting that it provides parishioners place for vigil and prayers.
Earlier in a sermon during the Thanksgiving mass, the Vicar of the church, Reverend Father Stephen Cheti said manifestation of the glory of God through Christ brought light and restored hope to mankind, urging Christians to spread God’s glory by making themselves light of the society.
In his remarks, the donor, Comrade Nnebe said he embarked on the Chapel project to show appreciation and gratitude as well as immortalise the memory of late Lady Patricia Ilogha whom he explained showed him love, kindness and care during his very difficult days as a student of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, assuring that he would continue to keep her memory and the memory of his own mother alive.
He disclosed that he would between now and Easter expend two million naira in church projects in Ekwuluobia Diocese and five hundred thousand naira in Awka Catholic Diocese.
Handing over the keys of the Chapel to the Cardinal, the father of the donor, Comrade Cyril Nebe assured that the family would continue to support the growth of the church.
The ceremony featured cultural dance and other side attractions.
