Over one thousand people from Omabala region of Anambra state have benefited from a two-day free medical outreach carried out by Tukur and Tukur Foundation, a nongovernmental organization based in Northern Nigeria.

 

The free medical outreach was attracted by former Governor Willie Obiano and was funded by the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

The event held at Immaculate Heart Hospital, Aguleri, Anambra East council area.

 

Services rendered were free consultation, diagnosis, drugs and eye glasses among others.

Indigenes and non-indigenes of Aguleri were at the hospital in their numbers to access the free medical outreach.

 

Speaking to the ABS, the Chairman of the outreach retired Colonel Haruna Zaria said they were sent to Aguleri by Chief Tukur Buratai who was recently honoured with Chieftaincy title by Aguleri Community to ensure that people of the area received best health care services as part of his contribution to the growth and development of the community now that he is one of them.

Colonel Zaria said that they were mandated to also donate instructional materials to school children which he handed over to the manager of the hospital, Reverend Father Vincent Abanaogu.

 

He added that they have been visiting various states to render such services and will continue to reach hard to reach areas and those who are in dire need of assistance.

Responding , Reverend Father Abanaogu who is the Health Coordinator of the Catholic Diocese of Aguleri, noted that former Governor Obiano whom he described as a friend of the diocese championed the outreach for the of people of the area

 

Reverend Father Abanaogu appreciated the Tukur and Tukur Foundation for their patience and expertise in discharging their duties which he said benefited over one thousand people.

 

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs Ifeoma Igboeli and Mr Christopher Emeka thanked the foundation for their benevolence and for making life easy for them, praying God to bless them abundantly.
