Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called for collective action towards achieving security of life and property in the State.

 

Governor Soludo made the call at the Wreath Laying and Parade Ceremony of 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

During the ceremony, the Governor joined other dignitaries in laying wreaths at the base of the cenotaph within the premises, which stands as a symbol of the sacrifices made by Nigerian armed forces.

The governor, expressed gratitude to the men and women who had made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the country’s peace and security, especially the uniformed men and women, as well as the Anambra Vigilante Group, who are currently serving in Anambra State.

While urging the Armed Forces not to relent in enforcing law and order with utmost professionalism, Governor Soludo called on the citizens to be the change they want to see by showing empathy to the law enforcement agents.

Describing order as the first law in heaven, the Governor admonished that people don’t pick or choose which law to obey, as everyone in a civilized society must obey the law, to avoid anarchy.

 

He reiterated his administration’s policy of “see something, say something” and pledged his administration’s support to those in service, the legion and widows of the fallen heroes.

The Governor urged Nigerians to always remember and honour the fallen heroes as well as those who continued to serve in the military.

 

The event was attended by top military officials, members of the State government, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and other members of the public.

Laying of wreath, parade by the military, gun salute and release of pigeon to signal peace also featured at the ceremony.
