“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts”. This great poetic verse by William Shakespeare aptly describes the life and times of the late Mrs Nneka Agatha Anoliefo whose 48 years of life on earth were marked with many achievements.

Nneka Agatha Anoliefo was born to late Chief Nwoye Micheal Ejikeme and Late Mrs Josephine Mkpurumma Ejikeme of Ireh village, Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State in the year 1974. Nneka as a young girl was taken to Lagos to live with her eldest sister where she attended Local Authority Primary School, Layeni Ojo Road, Lagos and Gaskia College, Ajegunle Lagos. She then proceeded to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication.

Nneka began her career at Anambra Broadcasting Service in 2008 as an Editor 2 in the News and Current Affairs Department and rose to the rank of a Principal Editor 1 before her demise.

She went back to Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2012 and bagged a Masters degree in Mass Communication in 2015. She went further and enrolled into the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON, and came out with credits in 2020 Public Service Exam of the college.

A remarkable event happened in her life in 2018 after she was deployed to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs as an Information Officer. At one of the functions of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council which she covered, she picked a reasonable sum of money mistakenly dropped by one of the traditional rulers. She made enquires and ensured that the money was returned to the owner. Ndi Igwe Anambra State, recognizing the essence of this core value exhibited by Nneka, invited her, prayed for and blessed

her, and gave her the name ‘Ada Ndi Igwe’. From there, she became their image maker, covering their activities and that of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, until death came knocking.

Also in recognition of that uncommon act, the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano honoured her with an award during the 2020 Civil Service Day celebration.

Nneka was a goal getter, an industrious, visionary and hardworking woman. She, though, got her own share of life’s tribulations; she conquered all. Her two beautiful and intelligent daughters were her life’s treasure and she worked hard to give them the best in life, seeing them through to undergraduate levels single-handedly.

Nneka was a generous, kind-hearted, and lovely woman with great sense of humour who always went out of her way to make people around her happy. She was a devout Christian who surrendered her battles and travails to God even when the protracted illness that took her life on 5th December, 2023 started. She had strong faith and believe that God would give her divine healing but it was God’s will to call her home into his bosom.

Nneka, in one moment, went from being a person to becoming a memory -a memory that people she came in contact with will treasure forever.

The remains of the Late Mrs Nneka Agatha Anoliefo (Nee Ejikeme) will be committed to mother earth tomorrow, Wednesday 17th January, 2024 at her father’s compound in Ireh village, Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Her interment at her father’s compound will be preceded by a brief commendation service at the Corporate Headquarters of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, in Awka by 7am and a burial service at her father’s compound by 10am.

Nneka is survived by her two daughters: Chiamaka and Chimamanda Anoliefo; brothers: Chiefs Titus, Charles, and Mr Chikelue Ejikeme; sister: Regina Okafor; Sisters in-laws: Ifeoma, Obiageli and Uche Ejikeme; and a host of other relations.

Nnee! Ada Abosiugo! Ada Ndi Igwe Anambra State! Nwanyi ọma! Onye Udo! Water wey no get enemy! Nne Girl! You’re gone, but you still feel very close!

May your gentle soul rest in the bosom of the creator, Amen.

Adieu Nnukwu Nwanyi.
