The remains of Barrister Clara Obi, wife of the traditional ruler of Nnobi in ldemili South Local Government Area Igwe Nick Obi have been laid to rest.

 

Aged eighty, the deceased served at various capacities as Executive officer of the East Central State Government, Administrative Officer of the State Civil service, Senior and Chief Magistrate in Anambra State judiciary where she retired from active service.

The funeral mass held in her honour at Saint Mary’s Catholic church Awuda Nnobi was presided over by Cardinal Francis Arinze and assisted by other priests who came from within and outside the state.

 

In his homily, Cardinal Arinze described the death of Barrister Obi as a great loss not only to her family but to the people of Nnobi but maintained that Christ’s assurance to his people about eternal life gives hope that death will not separate her forever from her loved ones.

In their separate tributes, the Children, grandchildren and daughter in-law of the deceased, Princess Ndidi Obi Mbanugo, Mr Onyebuchi Obi, Miss Nwando Udemezu and Mrs Chinenye Obi described her as a virtuous woman.

One of her son’s in-law, Chief Gerald Udemezue extolled her as a very loving and caring mother not only to her family but to everyone around her and prayed for her peaceful repose.

 

In their Condolence messages, Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, the member representing Idemili North and South Federal constituency, Mr Uche Okonkwo, the grand patron of Anambra State traditional Rulers council lgwe Kenneth Orizu the Third of Nnewi, traditional Ruler of Ojoto, lgwe Gerald Mbamalu among others who came to sympathize with the family urged them to take solace in the Lord as the deceased lived an accomplished life.

The funeral ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, top Government Functionaries, Politicians, Social groups, relatives, friends, in-laws and sympathizers who took turn to pay their Condolences.
