The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, and Anambra State Ministry of Health have offered free health insurance to children living with sickle cell anemia in the state.
Speaking during the registration of no fewer than twenty beneficiaries of the free health insurance at ASHIA office in Awka, Dr. Onyemaechi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, said that the Agency is happy to lend a helping hand in shouldering financial burden associated with managing the health challenges of the sickle cell patients.
Dr. Onyemaechi, who was represented by Dr. Ngozika Ifediora said that the Agency will continue to support the children to the best of their capability.
The Director, Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home Agulu, Mrs. Aisha-Edward Maduagwu, appreciated the ASHIA team for their warm reception, and equally extended her appreciation to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, for the magnanimity towards special needs of the children.
Mrs. Maduagwu also appreciated the Anambra State Government for sustaining of ASHIA, even as she appealed for more attention to the sickle cell orphanage homes as according to her more children need assistance to keep living.
