Residents of Okpuno, Nodu, Club Road, formerly Abakiliki street, old INEC road and its surroundings have commended the Anambra state government for the clean environment they have provided them in recent days.
When ABS moved round the areas, it was observed that refuse dumps that used to litter parts of the area’s before, are now a thing of the past.
Speaking to the ABS at Y junction Awka, a trader, Mr. Sunday Emenike said that they now witness a clean and serene environment, which he said was as a result of the prompt response of those discharging waste around the area.
He commended the new contractor in charge of waste disposal in the area and his team for being responsive and dedicated to their job by the quick evacuation of waste.
For Mrs. Anwulika Okeke who spoke at Club Road Awka, the serene and clean environment must be sustained for a liveable and prosperous homeland promised by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to Ndi Anambra.
Mrs. Okeke appreciated those working around the area for living up to the expectations of the residents of the area, and suggested for a taskforce team that will curtail the excesses of scavengers whom they said rubbish all their waste that they disposed properly, Emeka and Bunmi Anyaoku Foundation CentreEmeka and Bunmi Anyaoku Foundation Centre making it difficult for the Anambra State Waste Management Authority officials to evacuate them.
ABS also noticed that one of the major challenges facing the ASWAMA officials are the activities of the scavengers who remove waste from the dustbin and scatter it all over the road in their attempts to collect recycled products.
