Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development and Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning have concluded on modalities for inter-ministerial collaboration for a more meaningful implementation of Youth and human capital development programmes in Anambra State.

 

This is in line with the “One Government – One Agenda” policy of the Soludo administration as well as the need to apply a higher gear in policy implementation in order to actualize the youth development agenda in the People’s Manifesto within the stipulated time frame.

 

The agreement for an effective collaboration between the two Ministries was the high point of a visit by the Commissioner for Youth Development Mr. Patrick Agha Mba to his Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning counterpart Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake.

The Commissioner, who was accompanied by some members of the management team and technical committee of the ministry, emphasized the state government’s commitment to developing the youths through massive job creation and overall human capital development in order to ensure higher productivity.

 

He commended the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning for her competence and commitment to her huge responsibilities as well as her support to the programmes of the Ministry of Youth Development.

 

The Commissioner, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba stated that insecurity can only be reduced drastically when the youths are engaged massively with quality jobs.

He called on the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to assist in exploring all avenues of technical and funding support, to ensure an accelerated development for the youths of Anambra State in all sectors.

 

Among areas discussed for collaboration were the one Youth two Skills Initiative, Youths to Agriculture Scheme, Umuboi Entrepreneurship Scheme, Job-kickstart Solution Initiative as well as Data Collection, Data Management and Data Sharing.

 

Responding, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Mrs Nnake, stated that the meeting will not have come at a better time than now, when the government is looking at switching to a higher gear for a faster policy implementation.

She assured continuous commitment of her ministry to ensuring that all programmes for youth development in the state were given maximum attention.

 

She promised to initiate and facilitate fruitful engagement between the Ministry of Youth Development and Development Partners, who will aid in developing youths in order to achieve the desired objectives.

 

The Commissioner also emphasized the need for the development of a reliable database and indicators for the measurement of performance of the State government, especially in the areas of reduction in the rate of unemployment and insecurity.

 

The Meeting was attended by the Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth Development Mrs. Chito Osili, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Economic Planning Mrs. Ogochukwu Orji, Special Assistant to the Governor of Youth Development Engineer Emeka Omatah among others.
