The people of in OyiAwkuzu Local Government Area have appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the construction of the two point five kilometers Ogbo express by Mkpu John Ogwo in Awkuzu.

 

The people made their feelings known while speaking with ABS Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri who monitored progress of work on the road.

Earthwork has been completed on the Ogbo express-Owummili-Mkpu John Ogwo road except for a small portion where sand filling was still ongoing.

 

Drainage construction has also been completed on the road.

 

Reacting on the development, some indigenes of Ivite Awkuzu where the road construction is going on Messrs Bennett Ogamba and Tochukwu Igweze, thanked Governor Soludo for harkening to their yearnings and aspiration by giving attention to the road, saying he has done something they cannot forget easily.

They said that the road has saved them a lot of stress noting that as a spur to Awkuzu-Umunya road, the road will serve as a bye pass to get to Enugu-Onitsha express road without first getting to Awkuzu junction, and pledged total support to his administration.

 

Other residents of the area Mrs Perpetual Ibegbunam and Mr Bathlomeow Nnanyelugo said that they have suffered untold hardship on the road because of its erosion prone nature but expressed happiness that they can now move in and out of the road without stress, all thanks to Governor Soludo.

The project Engineer, Mr Peter Kenam noted that they will commence stone base on the road as soon as their materials arrive, and assured of completing asphalt on the road by February.

 

The Transition Committee Chairman for Oyi council area, Mr Emmanuel Nweke was excited that the era of flooding of the road and people’s houses are over, following the construction of the road.

 

Mr Nweke explained that both human and vehicular movements in the area were difficult before now, thanking the Governor for coming to their aid.
