An industrialist Dr Godwin Okafor has charged the federal government to create a more enabling environment for the speedy growth of the Nation’s Indigenous firms.

 

Speaking to the ABS in his office at Agu Awka industrial layout, Dr Okafor regretted that series of government unfriendly business policies are seriously hampering the growth of industries in Nigeria and urged the federal government to seek ways of checking the ugly trend.

 

Dr Okafor maintained that epileptic Power supply, bad road network, multiple taxation, increase in the cost of imported raw materials and source of foreign currency for businesses among others are the bane of development of indigenous firms.

 

He called on the federal government to assemble a formidable economic team that will provide a workable plan for the revamping of the naira saying that the high cost of products and cost of living is as a result of the weakness of the Nigerian currency in the foreign exchange market.

 

Dr Okafor who said that 2024 holds brighter prospects for Nigerians, charged the federal government to desist from making policies that will impoverish the people more, and commended the move by the government to revamp its ailing refineries beginning with that of Port-Harcourt which has commenced operations.

 

He urged Nigerians to always take pride in patronizing Made in Nigeria products in order to strengthen the growth of Indigenous firms in addition to boosting the Gross Domestic product GDP.

 

Dr Okafor who is a community leader in Isuofia, Aguata Local government area, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his efforts to transform the state, saying that the ongoing Construction and reconstruction of roads across the state will apart from opening up the hinterlands boost businesses.

 

He expressed satisfaction with the feat being recorded in Anambra State in Information communication Technology ICT, adding that the multiple awards secured by Anambra State in the just concluded communication and innovation meeting in Kano State is a clear indication that Anambra is a force to reckon with in e governance.
