Anambra State Government has frowned at traders who dump refuse on the roads thereby defacing the aesthetics of the capital city and its environs.
The Transition Committee Chairman Awka South Local Government Area, Mr. ThankGod Anagor who made this known in an interview in Amawbia, regretted that people’s attitude towards environmental cleanliness.
The Awka South Mayor who specifically issued the warning to traders at Oye Amawbia Market against disposing of their refuse on the road, said the warning has become necessary as such practices have become more rampant despite the government’s efforts to promote an environmental-friendly State.
Mr Anagor further warned the defaulters that they will be prosecuted and punished in accordance with the extant laws of the land.
He advised the traders to imbibe the culture of keeping their surroundings clean as the council area is always open to listen and assist them achieve their goals at all times.
Meanwhile, Mr Anagor who revealed that the Chairman of the market is currently serving suspension served on him by the council area for various irregularities and infractions while his vice is to act in his capacity until when he serves out his sanction following the state government’s directives, asked them to continue to promote peace, love and harmony in the Market.
