The management and staff of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra East Council Area, has held an interdenominational prayer to begin the new year.
The Interdenominational prayer session was attended by the Provost, Lady Ifeyinwa Osegbo, management, academic and non-academic staff of the institution and the students.
It featured prayers for the nation, Anambra State, and the school in particular.
In a sermon during the prayer session, Anglican Chaplain of the institution, Venerable Christian Ifeonu whose message was on “Humble Yourself’, said that every good thing such as wealth, riches, position and spiritual gifts come from God noting that it is important that they should be used for the service of God by helping others.
Venerable Ifeonu encouraged them to work like brethren, avoid intimidating one another as they will one day account for their stewardship.
In her remarks, the Provost of the College, Lady Ifenyinwa said the institution has continued in its tradition of rendering sound, quality and excellent education as is captured in their motto and called on the staff to keep the tempo high so as to maintain the legacies of the founding fathers of the school.
The Provost further challenged the lecturers to always give the students all the ingredients needed to excel in their learning urging the students to work harder, be respectful and disciplined to achieve their life goals.
The Catholic Chaplain, Reverend Father Benjamin Udeh said the benediction while special renditions from the music department and thanksgiving were the highpoints of the Interdenominational prayer session.
