Ahead of today’s re-run election in Nnewi North and Orumba North Local Government Areas, the Independent National Electoral Commission in Anambra has distributed sensitive materials to the affected council areas.
The distribution exercise took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Awka.
The distribution exercise was supervised by the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Elizabeth Agwu.
Speaking to journalists, Queen Elizabeth said that sensitive materials like result sheets and ballot papers were received and distributed for onward movement to the two council areas while the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machine and other items have been handed over to Electoral Officers.
Queen Elizabeth said that they have completed fifty percent of their work and were ready for the election today, calling on the ad-hoc staff to be proactive to ensure a smooth election.
She said that there will be no movement in areas where the election will hold from half past eight o’clock in the morning when voting will start and end by half past two o’clock in the afternoon when voting will end, and assured that every person on queue will vote before they close.
Queen Elizabeth warned politicians not to act funny in any way as they have deployed enough security personnel to provide safety at all the polling units and all the areas where the election will hold, urging the electorate to come out without fear of molestation.
On their parts, the Chairman of Young Progressive Party in Anambra State Mr Moses Obi and the agent for People’s Democratic Party, Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Mr Osondu Mmadu commended INEC for its conduct so far.
