The Orumba North and South Federal Constituency supplementary election recorded massive turn out of voters at polling units 004 and 005 at Eti village hall, Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area.
Accreditation of voters and voting commenced simultaneously at the polling units around nine o’clock in the morning.
ABS gathered that sensitive election materials including Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines, results sheets and ballot papers were provided in the area by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, while the eligible voters voted freely amidst tight security.
The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines functioned effectively as INEC officials deployed to the area were seen using it to accredit the electorate.
Speaking to the Anambra Broadcasting Service after voting, the National Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene commended the peaceful conduct of the supplementary election and the Independent National Electoral Commission for living up to expectations.
Chief Ogene also commended eligible voters in the area for being orderly, adding that the nation’s electioneering is advancing to an appreciable height.
On her part, Mrs Agatha Onu who voted in polling unit 004 expressed joy that the exercise is peaceful as she voted peacefully without molestation and thanked INEC for deploying enough security personnel to provide safety at the pooling units.
On his part, an Independent National Electoral Commission accredited election observer, Mr. Emma Nwafor observed that the election is transparent and devoid of irregularities.
