After seeing about nine terrifying plagues come on his land, Pharaoh, the hard-hearted emperor of Egypt had to bow to pressure and called Moses for a truce with the people of Israel. When Moses arrived, Pharaoh asked him for clarifications on who he wanted to lead out of Egypt. Moses’ reply remains iconic and significant. He told Pharaoh that not only is he taking the entire people of Israel out of Egypt, they will also leave with all their livestocks, and as recorded in Exodus Chapter 10 verse 26, “Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind…”
The emphasis that no hoof shall be left behind came on the premise that Pharaoh had insisted earlier that if Moses was to leave, he must leave behind the women and the children. Obviously, a ploy to keep the Israelites back. So, by saying,”No hoof shall be left behind”, Moses was insisting that nothing significant that concerns the Israelites will be left behind in Egypt.
Moses being a charismatic ruler trained in the best knowledge of Egyptian aristocracy, scholarship, and diplomacy, understood the essence of words and allusions in describing the true situation of a phenomenon. He knew the socio-economic and historical implications of leaving anything behind in their journey to freedom.
Moses’ determination to leave “no hoof behind” in Egypt can today be likened to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s earnest commitment to deliver Anambra into a smart megacity – a livable and prosperous homeland. While Moses, in his time, desired to leave nothing behind in Egypt, Governor Soludo, today, is determined to leave no sector behind in the attempt to lead Anambra State into a future of economic freedom and a land where people will realize their dreams no matter where they are from, their creed or their social strata.
For some, the ongoing construction of 450 kilometers of roads across the state (by the way, a record for any Governor in less than 24 months); the empowerment of 5000 youths with two billion naira worth of seed capitals under the “1Youth, 2Skills” Solution Initiative; the training of 25,000 youths in different digital areas under the LevelUp Anambra and Code Anambra programmes, the recruitment of 5000 teachers and ongoing recruitment of 3000 more into our primary and secondary school system; the free education programme; and the free ante-natal and delivery services for our women are the major achievements of the administration.
But there are many more that show that Governor Soludo has his hands on the plough in many sectors that drive economic and social change. For instance, the reforms going on in the administration of criminal justice system making it easier for quicker justice dispensation to be carried out may not be remembered in the media most of the time but are critical solutions that engender social harmony. Or, who will discountenance the possible impacts of the Anambra State Bureau of Missing Persons domiciled in the state ministry of Justice? Or the newly established chief magistrate court that tries children, sexual offences and gender-based violence?
We will not forget the land reforms that are being implemented by the Anambra State Ministry of Lands. The reforms which are technology driven shut out sharp practices in land ownership and registration making the state an investors’ “peace of mind”. These market driven reforms are strategic to the state’s high ranking in ease of doing business index.
Already, the vehicles to bring the Awka 2.0, Onitsha 2.0 and the Anambra State Mixed Industrial City are in motion. As these are going on, the Anambra State Urban Regeneration Council is engaging stakeholders to turn our cities around into modern cities where investors from any where in the World will desire to come. The first phase of the Anambra State Government House and Lodge is nearing completion and the upgrade of Dr Alex Ekwueme Square into an ultra-modern event centre has commenced. The construction of one thousand ultra modern shops in Isiagu is coming on stream. The construction of Ekwulobia Flyover, modern bus terminal, petrol station and satellite roads has reached advanced stage. Plans are also in the pipeline to boost our fire service with more fire trucks to increase their efficiency in fighting fires anywhere in the state.
The fact remains that Governor Soludo is reaching and touching all sectors. He is mastering on all fronts to deliver on his mandate which in his words is “a mandate with a deadline”. So, no time for excuses or
guesses.
