The spread of evangelism has taken a new dimension in the Anglican Diocese of Ogbaru, as the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, has introduced sporting events as part of evangelism in the Diocese.

The sporting activities, according to Bishop Amah, is part of efforts by the Diocese to bring the youths who are the future leaders of both the church and the nation closer to their creator.

He said Ogbaru Diocese practices balanced evangelism, and charged youths in the Diocese to embrace the sporting activity which he tagged “Bishop Amah football tournament”, adding that the tournament is part of his desire to win more souls for Christ.

Bishop Amah expressed optimism that the tournament will also create an enabling environment for harnessing young talents in football; with a view to securing a bright future for them, as according to him, football has made many people billionaires.

He added that at the end of the tournament, the team that emerges victorious will receive cash reward as encouragement, in addition to other consolation prizes for the runners up and other grants which will go a long way in encouraging the participants drawn from all the Archdeaconries in Ogbaru Diocese.

Bishop Amah charged the participants in the football tournament to always be good Ambassadors by living lives that will always glorify God in both their various homes and the larger society, warning them against acts capable of marring their future.

The opening ceremony of the sports event which took place at central school field Atani, featured match past by all the participants drawn from the Archdeaconries in Ogbaru Diocese, saw the East Niger team trashing their counterpart from Okpoko Archdeaconry one zero.
