The Woman leader of the All-progressives Grand Alliance APGA in Anambra State Mrs Esther Onyekesi has cautioned Mothers against sending their underaged children to individuals as house helps.

 

Speaking on ABS Radio and Television Programme “Tonimas half hour” in Awka, Mrs Onyekesi who blamed mothers for the high rate of child molestation in the society stressed the need for mother’s to always give their children proper training instead of leaving them in the hands of guardians and Caregivers as house helps.

 

She regretted that most guardians maltreat children given to them as house helps, describing as an act of wickedness, the inability of these guardians to send such children under their care to school.

 

Mrs Onyekesi commended the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo and the Commissioner for Women Affairs Mrs Ify Obinabo for all their efforts aimed at improving the lives of Women and children and called for its sustenance.

 

The State APGA Woman leader Mrs Onyekesi, urged Presidents-General of various communities, Community Women leaders and traditional rulers to sensitize their people on the inherent dangers of sending their underaged children to work as house helps.

 

Contributing the National President of Human Rights and Road safety Awareness Organization Reverend Victor Ofojebe who regretted the high rate of child abuse and molestation in the society said that the group has continued to carry out an enlightenment campaign on its negative effect charged parents to always know the background of any person they are giving out their children to as helps.

 

Reverend Ofojebe who called on the government to create more skill acquisition Programme for the Youths, reminded parents of the need to be alive to their responsibility especially in the area of giving proper training to their children.
