The Bishop on the Niger, the Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for donating the sum of three hundred million naira to support University on the Niger, UNINIGER, projects.

Bishop Nwokolo, who made the commendation during the collation of seven Canons and five Archdeacons at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, described the gesture as first of its kind, noting that Anambra State Government has been supporting education at different levels.

He acknowledged Governor Soludo for seeing the church as partners in progress, and encouraged him to do more, as according to him, education is the liberating power of the nation.

Bishop Nwokolo charged the new Canons and Archdeacon to see their elevation as a call to more service.

Earlier in a sermon he captioned “Kingdom Exploits” the Archdeacon, Inland Town Archdeaconry, Venerable Okechukwu Ukpeke urged the newly elevated priests to be ambassadors of Christ through their life styles, and develop a strong representation wherever they find themselves.

Speaking to the ABS, one of the new Canons and Archdeacons, Reverend Canon Chijioke Okpalakunne and Venerable Chinedu Nnatuanya, thanked God for the elevation and expressed commitment to the growth of the Diocese.

The newly elevated priests took oath of office before their installation; amidst cheers from the congregation that filled the Cathedral to capacity.

The service attracted dignitaries and top government officials, including the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtoo Udeze, among others.
