The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has charged Christians to use the period of Lent, which begins today, in renewing their faith and belief in God.

Speaking at the Chapel of Grace, Bishop’s Court Ekwulobia, in Aguata Local Government Area, Bishop Ezeofor, who described the period of Lent as time for penitence and faith renewal among the faithful, warned Christians against acts capable of debasing Christianity.

Bishop Ezeofor, who is also the National Chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, EFAC, Nigeria, regretted the sufferings Nigerians are passing through, and used the opportunity to task the Federal Government on making policies that will effect positive changes and improve the living standards of the people.

While describing youths as future leaders of both the church and the larger society, the Prelate expressed worry over their gradual return to idolatry, and charged both Ministers of God and parents to rise to the occasion of restoring the backsliders to fellowship with God.

Bishop Ezeofor also charged Christians to always love themselves and neighbours as Christ loves the church, urging them to always live lives capable of winning souls for Christ.

He urged Christians to use the period of Lent in praying for peace, unity and progress of the Nigerian nation.
