Over one hundred indigent adolescent girls and Young Women who were trained last year on different skills and vocations have graduated.
The training which lasted for six months was in line with the efforts of the Soludo administration to ensure that people have various meaningful means of livelihood and in turn become employers of labour.
The graduands were empowered with various equipment to kick start their own businesses with emphasis on the training they received, which Include make-up and Gel production, fashion and designing, Digital Marketing, catering, Hat making and hair dressing among others.
The training and empowerment which was facilitated by Achieving Health Nigeria initiative in partnership with Family Health international three hundred and sixty Global fund, with the collaboration of Anambra State government took place in Awka.
Earlier before the empowerment programme, Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, who appreciated the group in his office, urged Nigerians to always accommodate and support those living with HIV/AIDS which he said is not a death sentence.
Speaking during the ceremony, Anambra State coordinator Adolescent Health Development and Gender Equity Ministry of Health Awka, Mrs Ngozi Nworji-Eke described the programme as a calculated follow up to various empowerment Programmes of Governor Chukwuma Soludo aimed at creating a bright future for the people of the State.
Mrs Ngozi Nworji-Eke, a Rotarian disclosed that in view of the efforts of the wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo in promoting good Health and standards of living of the indigent, she was made an Ambassador of the Adolescent Girls and Young Women organization, and charged women to learn how to support each other.
The Director Public Health Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr Afam Anaeme advised the beneficiaries to keep the equipment in a secured environment while the Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative project team lead for Global fund grant, Mrs Toni Woji charged them to make proper use of the items provided in order to become useful citizens and thanked Anambra State Government for its collaboration.
The beneficiaries thanked their benefactors for their kind gesture and reassured of making proper use of the equipment which they said will go a long way in impacting positively on their lives.
