Enugwu-Ukwu Community in Njikoka Local Government Area has set up a committee to address the growing controversies among Ozo leadership of the community and also to regulate social media publications about the town.

 

The formation of the five-man committee is contained in a communiqué issued shortly after the end of an emergency general meeting convoked by the Traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh at his palace.

 

The meeting was attended by members of the different sections of the community including cabinet members, the Leadership of Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union, Otu Odu Eze, Otu-Iyom, Chairmen of villages, youth leaders and other stakeholders.

 

The meeting deliberated on pressing issues threatening the relative peace in the community.

 

At the meeting, Igwe Ekpeh frowned at the damage the social media war has on the reputation of Enugwu-Ukwu which has been ongoing for the past six weeks and recalled the place of the town and her indigenes to socio-political development of Nigeria and Anambra State.

 

He revealed that the meeting was necessary due to the negative impact the social media war has on the town, to discuss the problem and initiate ways of returning Enugwu-Ukwu to its peaceful disposition.

 

At end of deliberations on various issues of concern such as Ozomkpu leadership dispute, Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union dispute in the United States, Nkwo Market Development, commercial bank in Enugwu-Ukwu, poor services of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company in Enugwu Ukwu among others, the meeting resolved an end to all negative commentaries on social media pertaining the two Ozo leadership in Enugwu-Ukwu and to set up a peace, truth and reconciliation committee to kick-start discussions on resolutions of other issues in Enugwu Ukwu.

 

They also resolved to invite the aggrieved Ozo title holders to a meeting to bring an end to the crises and regulate social media publications on the matter.
