Residents of Awka South Local Government Area and environs have staged a peaceful demonstration against people sabotaging the implementation of government policies and programmes.
Numbering over one hundred, the demonstrators had placards with various inscriptions such as, “We want Awka Clean”, “Say No to Street Trading” “Awka South Loves Solution Government”, “Solution Comes for Greater Development and We Support him,” and many others.
They began the demonstration from Awka South Local Government headquarters through Old Enugu-Onitsha Road by Ziks Avenue and to Eke Awka.
Addressing the group, the Managing Director of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Mr Celestine Anere applauded the group for the peaceful manner with which they carried out the exercise and warned that the State government will not entertain any form of protest that will disrupt public peace.
He advised them to engage in enlightenment programmes in their respective communities and villages as a way of disseminating the disruptive change message of the Soludo administration to the grassroots.
Mrs Angela Nwogbo and Mr. Innocent Nwabuife thanked Governor Soludo for his efforts in giving Awka South Local Government Area a facelift and assured him of their unalloyed support.
