Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo has explained that building a stable and progressive home requires clear intentions from parents who are willing to work for peace, love, family cohesion and harmony.
The governor’s wife, who was speaking in Awka, observed that some homes have been infiltrated by wrong social habits because parents who should be guards and teachers of right acts are neglecting their responsibilities.
According to Mrs Soludo, parents should see their homes as little heavens, and put in efforts to create an environment of harmony and friendship where the children see their parents as their best friends who they can always confide in and lean on.
She explained that parenting and child raising are two different responsibilities that ought to be understood clearly, adding that a parent’s primary responsibility is to their children.
The governor’s wife also noted that home responsibility sits on the shoulder of parents, who should ensure that every member of the family comes home to meet peace and emotional connection.
She asked mothers to ensure that their homes are properly made to exude peace and harmony, with emphasis on their husbands, who she said should always long for home.
Mrs Soludo equally asked parents to be mindful of the habits they present to their children, knowing that a child learns fast from their immediate environment, including what they see people around them do more often.
The governor’s wife further called for a review of certain family values , especially those that have no known impact on a child’s growth and development, and appealed to parents to always make time for their families, most importantly, knowing who, where and what their children are into.
