Residents and people of Awka Community have been charged to always maintain and safeguard government facilities in the area.

 

Speaking on ABS flagship Radio programme Eko Awka, a community leader in Awka community, Chief Obi Ochije Modilim regretted the indifferent attitude of the citizenry towards government facilities which he said were provided with taxpayer’s money.

 

He applauded Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration as the only one that prioritized development in Awka, saying that Governor Soludo is currently transforming Awka into a proper State capital.

 

Chief Ochije Modilim characterized the current road construction in Awka’s inner roads as a government initiative to improve access in the community.

 

He cautioned residents against littering on the newly built roads and drainages, describing it as irresponsible and unpatriotic behaviour.

 

He thanked Governor Soludo for encouraging Indigenous firms in project execution saying that the quality of roads being constructed by MP infrastructure in Awka is of high standard, noting that the company’s expertise is a testament to the strength of local businesses.

 

Chief Ubalutu Anaetoh an executive member of Ulonese committee of Agulu Awka who was also a guest on the programme disclosed that as part of efforts to safeguard government projects in Awka, they have set up a task force which is similar to Awommili in the olden days.

 

He said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has through his intervention in every sector shown that he is committed to efficient, effective and quality service delivery and reassured him of the support of Awka Community.

 

An Awka born community information communication expert, Chief Izah Nwosu also expressed concern over the destruction of street light poles in Awka, the State capital, saying that the vandalism of these essential infrastructure is common and needs to be addressed.

 

He noted that the destruction is being carried out by motorists who drive into the poles, causing damage and calling for stronger measures to prevent such acts.
