Police Detectives from Anambra State Command working with UmuojiVigilante have apprehended the suspected killers of Umuoji President-General, who was murdered in his home last weekend.
This is according to a release signed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Tochukwu Ikenga which also said that four suspects have been arrested so far.
According to the release, the handset and ATM Card of the deceased were recovered from the suspects, and in their confession, they named four other accomplices who are now being hunted by the Police.
The statement also said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, who was away in Ibadan on official assignment for the opening ceremony of the fourteenth Biennial Police Games rushed back to the state when the news of the murder broke to co-ordinate police efforts at unravelling the crime.
Mr Adeoye commended the Police in Ogidi and Umuoji Vigilante for working together to apprehend the suspected perpetrators and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to deploy its Forensic Team to the scene of the crime and take over the investigation.
The release also revealed that Mr. Adeoye has also mandated the Homicide Team in the State, CID, to apprehend the four accomplices still on the run and unravel the motive behind the gruesome crime, and assured Presidents-General across the State that their safety is of primary concern to the Police as they represent their people in governance through their various town Unions.
