The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Anambra State,Sir Ernest Ezeajughi has charged the Federal Government to yield to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s request to unlock gas from the Exclusive Legislative list as a solution to the energy problem in the country.
Sir Ernest gave the charge while commending the Federal Government and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, for coming up with the project to ramp up power supply and put an end to one of the major challenges facing industrial clusters in the South East.
The Chief of Staff enjoined the Federal Government to yield to the call-in order to remove all bottlenecks affecting power availability in the country.
According to the Governor’s aide, the move will further transcend seeing infrastructure as a symbol of advancement, heralding a new era of revitalization for local communities and driving economic expansion throughout every region.
He acknowledged that to solve the energy problem in the country through constitutionally enabling sub-nationals, there is need to further unbundle the Exclusive Legislative list, especially the gas component.
Sir Ernest also commended the National Assembly for removing electricity from Exclusive Legislative list to concurrent legislative list so that governors in their respective states can now create a viable and competitive electricity market.
He concluded that as an industrial hub of the country, the State government will continue to support and partner the federal government, industrialists and other private investors across the state to complement the undeniable boost that the Light-up Nigeria Project would bring as the state is currently on the process of enacting Electricity law and policies to create a vibrant market in the state.
