In an effort to enhance and preserve the rich Cultural heritage of the ancient Obosi kingdom, Inyom Udezuga of Ireh kindred, Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state has launched a traditional dance to revive their traditional dancing steps.

 

The glamorous event which took place at the residence of the Assistant President General of Obosi Development Union, Mr Onyedikachukwu Abanobi attracted the illustrious sons and daughters of Ireh kindred, their wives and friends.

The event also provided an opportunity for entertainment and bonding among the Ireh People, while launching of the dance commenced at the Igwe’s palace.

 

Speaking during the event, the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka the Third Commended the Udezuga women for taking such a bold step in reviving the age long tradition of the Obosi kingdom and identified traditional dance as the best way of promoting culture.

The president General of Obosi Development Union, Barrister Chimezie Obi described the event as the best which came at the right time urging young women to imitate the Udezuga women.

 

A former President General of Obosi Development Union, Sir Dan Chiemezie said that the various dancing steps showcased the beauty of Obosi tradition.

The leader of the dancing group, Mrs Chinweoke Obiefuna said that the traditional dance of Udezuga women is an age long traditional dance that has earned the women much recognition across the country, hence, their decision to revive and maintain such skill which is also part of exercise that creates excitement and bonding.

 

Responding, the host, Mr Abanobi extolled the Udezuga women for launching the dance and called for sustainability of such a vibrant tradition.

Presentation of gifts to the women and kinsmen as well as launching of the dance added glamour to the event.
