Christian Women have been charged to be at the fore front in the ongoing movement aimed at bringing the needed transformation in the society.

 

A cross section of Christian mothers from the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger of the Anglican communion gave the charge during an ABS Radio and Television Programme Tonimas half hour in Awka where the role of Women in Nation building was discussed as part of activities marking the international women’s day celebration 2024 as well as the forthcoming Mothers Sunday of the Anglican communion worldwide.

 

The Women who represented the president of the Women’s Ministry in Niger province and Awka Diocese Dr Chioma Ibezim, echoed that Christian Women have a very big role to play in bringing the needed transformation in the society by living Christ like Life in order to win souls for God.

 

One of the Women who participated in the Programme and Deputy Chief Registrar of the Anambra State High Court Chisom Okafor, who condemned totally the high rate of molestation and intimidation being meted out to the Women, urged Women to rise up and defend their rights when such is being trampled upon.

 

She called on the Women to always seek redress through the international Federation of Women lawyer’s FIDA whenever they are being marginalized, saying that by knowing their rights and respecting their husbands the needed transformation in the society will be achieved.

 

Another guest on the programme and Director of Protocol Women’s Ministry in both Province of the Niger and Awka Diocese, Dame Chika Osinomumu who spoke on the need for Christian Women to be role models, cautioned them against delegating their family responsibilities to their house helps which she said is always counter-productive.

 

Dame Chika maintained that during the period of international women’s day celebration and Mother’s Sunday, Christian Women do visit those in the correctional centres, students and pupils in various schools, those in the hospitals and indigent members of the public to give them a sense of belonging.

 

For an Academia who also participated in the programme, Dr Chiazor Anyachebelu, women should not be deterred in their service to God due to the present economic challenges facing the Nation.

 

According to her, with fervent prayers and perseverance, Nigerians will overcome the current hard times they are passing through and called for the appointment of more women into positions of trust in the society.
