In continuation of the tour of roads being constructed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo across the state by the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze in company of lawmakers, the team has inspected roads in Anambra Central Senatorial District with a testament that the Governor is utilizing the funds appropriated for State’s development judiciously.
During the inspection, it was observed that some of the roads has been completed and marked, while others are undergoing asphalt work, with heavy-duty equipment seen undertaking various tasks.
The inspected roads include Amansea- Ebenebe -Ugbenu- Ugbene-Awba-Ofemilli road, Amansea-Ifite Awka-Aroma-Government House-Okpuno road, Unizik-Okpuno Isuaniocha road, internal roads in Awka, and Ugwu Nwasike bypass road Ogidi.
Commenting on the Amansea-Awba-Ofemilli road, the Speaker noted its neglect for many years but commended the Governor’s initiative in giving it attention, assuring continued legislative support in fulfilling the assurances made to the people.
He acknowledged the pace and quality of work by contractors handling the road projects, saying the inspection was initiated to ensure that appropriated funds for these projects are judiciously used.
The member representing Awka North Constituency, Mr. Johnmark Ikwunne emphasized the importance of the Amansea-Awba-Ofemmili road to the people of Awka North Local Government Area, stating its significance in facilitating agricultural transportation after being abandoned for over thirty years.
Similarly, the member representing Idemili South Constituency, Mr. Ebuka Igwe, highlighted the strategic significance of Ugwu Nwasike road and the praising the Governor for fulfilling his promise.
On his part, the member representing Anaocha Constituency Two, Sir. Ejike Okechukwu, acknowledged that the Governor’s efforts in the state are often underreported despite the quality of work done, emphasizing the judicious use of appropriated funds for improved living standards.
In an interview, one of the contractors handling the roads in Awka, Engineer Adeyinka Amosun expressed gratitude to the state government for entrusting them with the task and highlighted the flood control and traffic decongestion benefits of the road project.
Residents in some of the visited communities expressed joy and solidarity, thanking the Governor for coming to their rescue.
