The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has called on Mothers to wake to their duty of ideal child upbringing for a better and livable society.

The Deputy Governor made the call at Chapel of Redemption, Anglican Church

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, during the 2024 Mothering Sunday celebration.

Deputy Governor Ibezim regretted that most mothers in the present-day society have failed in their primary responsibility of proper child upbringing, which according to him is evident in the behaviors of most youths today, said it is high time everybody joins hands to build the society for the good of all.

Dr Ibezim commended mothers who are really playing their parts and making sacrifices for their homes and the society at large, describing them as the type of women that the world needs presently.

He used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to always pray for the country, pointing out that through prayers, things will change for good, even as he assured Ndi Anambra that the government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo will continue to do the needful to better the lives of the citizenry.

Earlier in a sermon, a Guest speaker at the event who is also a mother, Evangelist Ifenna Chibuzo who spoke on the theme of the special service, encouraged Christians to always depend on God and make their needs known to Him through fervent prayers, reminding them that God will always answer them if they have unwavering faith in Him.

The service featured choir renditions, special songs presentation by the mothers, prayers for the church, Anambra State and Nigeria, as well as cutting of the 2024 Mothering Sunday cake.
