As part of efforts aimed at advancing the cause of healthy living among the elderly in Anambra State, the wife of the Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo has distributed twenty-seven thousand cartons of Vitamin Supplements to the elderly in the state.

 

The distribution took place at ASUBEB Hall in Awka during which the governor’s wife distribute the vitamin supplements to councilors of the three hundred and twenty-six wards in the state.

The initiative, will see eighty elderly persons per ward benefit, covering a total of twenty-six thousand, eighty persons across different communities in the state.

 

The supplements include multivitamind suitable in addressing deficiencies due to reduced body metabolism, Vitamin A, B, C.

Flagging off the distribution, Mrs Soludo explained that it is part of the strategies adopted by her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo programme to promote good health for the people.

 

Describing the Councilors as critical in the actualization of the government developmental projects at the grassroots, Mrs. Soludo encouraged them to continue to support the governor in his work.

According to her, the speed with which the governor started has not slowed down, assuring them that the governor is committed to fulfilling all his promises to the people within the specified time.

 

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike appreciated the governor’s wife for the donation of the supplements, adding that it will give impetus to the governor’s vision aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage at the grassroots.

In her remarks, the Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Honourable Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, praised the life-changing impact of Mrs Soludo’s healthy living mission, which she said has benefitted so many people, and urged the councilors to take advantage of health lessons that the governor’s wife is championing.

 

The Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs Amaka Obi, the Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority ASWAMA, Mr Mike Ozoemena, the APGA State Woman Leader, Mrs Esther Onyekesi, the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Dr Vera Nwadinobi, among others, were at the event.
