Parish Council Madonna Parish Agulu , Pioneer Vice Chairman St John’s the Evangelist Parish Agulu , Initiator of creation of St Matthias Catholic Parish Agulu, Landlord Saint Matthias Catholic Parish, Agulu, Patron Catholic Women Organization Awka Diocese , National Patron Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria , acted as Catechist St Matthias Catholic Parish, Agulu , Patron Catholic Women Organization St John’s Parish Agulu , Patron Catholic Women Organization St Matthias Parish Agulu and also accommodated more than twenty five seminarians on apostolic work.
Chief Obi was among the people that contributed to the establishment of the Madonna Parish Agulu, St Johns the Evangelist Parish Agulu, and Saint Mathias Catholic Parish Agulu where he sacrificed his own land for the building of both the fathers house and the church.
Chief Obi married Late Lady Beatrice Obi from the family of late Chief Lazarus Eze in Nkitaku village Agulu. Their marriage was blessed with male and female children and also grandchildren. Their marital life was worthy of emulation and that was why they were given award as an ideal couple in old Awka Diocese by Late Bishop A.K Obiefuna.
Chief Obi was appointed the Secretary to Anaocha Local Government council by the Anambra State Government in 1993. He was a Supervisory Councilor for Agriculture and President Agulu Customary Court.
He was also Pioneer Founder and chairman Agulu peoples Union, Secretary Agulu Peoples Union, Chairman Committee for Agulu Market Development ,Palace Secretary Igwe in Council, Chairman Anaocha Association of Teachers and PTA Chairman Girls High School Agulu now Rosary Mystica.
Chief Obi was the Secretary of Umuowelle village for two years and due to his quest for Umuowelle development he was elected as the Chairman of Umuowelle village, the post he held for nine years during which he built Umuowelle Village Hall, culverts and grading of community roads and brought National grid to the village in 1988.
At the age grade level, he was a member of Amakekwu Age Grade and served as the Secretary of the Age grade for many years.
In his kindred Umudimilo, he served as the Secretary and later elected the chairman of the kindred, the post he held for nine years.
Chief Obi was a lover of tradition. He was admitted into the Nze na Ozo society in the year 2008 and the ceremony was blessed by Late Reverend Monsignor Martin Okpala and was later conferred the village High Chief.
Chief Obi was a man of truth, he stood on the truth always and that was why he was honored by St John’s Parish Agulu as Okwuluora One of St John’s Evangelist parish Agulu.
PAPA, you will certainly be rewarded for your good deeds on earth. You have fought a good fight, you have finished the race. . Our consolation lies in the fact that you left an enduring legacy of peace, faith and hardwork that will not be forgotten. May your soul rest in peace.
He was survived by children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and other relatives.
