Laying of asphalt is to be completed on the nine-point five-kilometer Ezira -Umuomaku-Enugwu-umuonyia -Achina road by next month.

The work which started in January, 2023, is now motorable from Ezira to Achina.

Laying of asphalt has been completed on over five kilometers out of the nine-point five kilometers of the road with stone base laid on most parts.

Drainage construction has been completed on both sides of the road.

The construction company has asphalted the road up to Umuomaku, heading to Enugwu-umuonyia.

Speaking to the ABS, the Managing Director of TAMAD Construction firm handling the project, Engineer Tony Madi said that they have completed all the earth works on the road and is targeting to complete asphalting on the road before the end of April 2024.

Engineer Madi noted that the asphalt is fifty millimeters after compaction, but regretted that constant rainfall and high cost of materials are their major issues.

In their separate reactions, the, chief provost of Umuomaku community, Mr. Bennard Uzo and an indigene of Enugwu-umuonyia, Mr. Clemente Okeke expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for doing what successive governments failed to do for so many years, saying that it shows that he came to change Anambra for good.
