A memorial football match has been played in honour of late Mrs Fidelia Nneka Ifedigbo of Amorji village, Agulu, Anaocha Local Council Area, as friends and well-wishers of the family turned out in their numbers to participate in the memorial game.
The Agulu Grammar Boys Secondary School, venue of the football match witnessed football lovers and enthusiasts who came to celebrate the life and times of Mrs Ifedigbo, who died at the age of sixty-eight.
The teams, the Big Brothers Football Club of Lagos, made up of friends of the deceased son based in Lagos, played against the Rising Star Football Club of Agulu boys in an entertaining encounter.
Speaking during the match, the deceased son, Chief Osita Ifedigbo said that the memorial match was a thought by his friends to honour his mother and noted that he will dearly miss his mother.
A Lagos based entrepreneur, Dr. Joachim Aforjama who is a friend of the deceased family, explained that the late Mrs Ifedigbo was a caring and loving woman until her death.
Other friends to the family, Mr. Patrick Ede, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and Chief Ugochukwu Ebene explained that the deceased meant a lot to many people and that playing the memorial football match was a way to honour her and console the family.
The thrilling encounter which was kicked off by Chief Ifedigbo ended in a one-one draw between the teams amidst cheers from spectators.
The captains of both teams, Mr. Callistus Ede of Big Brothers Football Club of Lagos and Mr. Chukwuebuka Okpala of the rising star, noted that the encounter was fun and awesome and also an opportunity for the young ones to showcase their talents.
