The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha has called on youths to dedicate their youthful energy towards productive engagements for a better society.
Dr Omenugha made the call while addressing the Catholic youths on the occasion of Catholic Youths Organization of Nigeria, 2024 Archdiocesan youth day held at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
Dr Omenugha who chaired the occasion emphasized that the future of the society and that of the church largely depends on the quality of youth being raised today.
He said that Governor Soludo understands the importance of youth in the development of the society and highlighted some of the key programmes of the Governor geared towards building youths that are productive at home and exportable abroad which include, training and empowering of Anambra youths on digital skills, one youth two skills entrepreneurship programme, job creation and youth inclusion in governance.
Dr Omenugha commended their initiative of floating livestock farms and pledged his unalloyed support to ensure that the project succeeds.
On his part the Chaplain of Catholic Youths Organization of Nigeria, Onitsha Archdiocese Reverend Father Vincent Ezenwaka who commended the Governor for his commitment towards youth development assured that the church will continue to play its role in raising modest youths that will drive positive growth and development of the state and beyond.
The annual event commenced with a mass presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke.
The event attracted youths from different zones under Onitsha Archdiocese and featured series of lectures and cultural activities.
