“Those richly blessed by the Almighty God should endeavor to reach out to the poor and less privileged’’

This quote perhaps informed the decision of the prestigious Otu Odu, (Iyom group) Neni to embark on a free medical outreach programme targeted at the poor and less privileged members of the society.

The Otu Odu group represents the highest traditional status a woman can attain in Igbo land and epitomizes pride, substance and dignity in womanhood in the Igbo society

The free medical outreach programme which comes up at the Neni Town Hall near the Oye market on Saturday (Oye) 13th April 2024 is being undertaken in partnership with PAC-Net Women’s Health and Youth Development Initiative, a national non-governmental organization that focuses its activities on reproductive health of women and the development of young persons.

Pac-Net had in the past carried out such partnership free medical outreach programmes with philanthropic individuals and groups to communities in various parts of Anambra and indeed other south eastern states of Nigeria, and is ever willing to undertake similar tasks for desiring individuals and groups. This medical outreach programme is in-fact of utmost necessity at this time in our country where majority of the people are ravaged by poverty, hunger and disease due to hard times.

The scope of the outreach program includes, General medical consultations and treatment, Public health enlightenment talk, Laboratory investigations, Screening for hypertension, diabetes, and prostate diseases, Eye check and treatment of eye diseases; prescription and giving of eye glasses, Antenatal care for pregnant women among others.

People from Neni and neighboring communities are urged to avail themselves of this unique opportunity to seek healthcare services from various experts and specialists who would be consulting at the medical outreach programme.

The prestigious Otu Odu (Iyom group) of Neni is blazing the trail among the Otu Odu groups of various communities in Anambra state, through the conduct of this free medical outreach Programe, expected to touch the lives of the poor, needy and vulnerable. This gesture should be emulated by similar groups in various parts of Anambra state since this will compliment the effort of the Anambra state Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo and His wife Mrs Nonye Soludo towards ensuring abundant health for the people that would engender sustainable development of the state.

Sincere gratitude is extended to the entire members of Otu Odu (Iyom group Neni) who collectively approved, and supported the event to happen. Particular mention should be made of the relentless effort of the President of Otu Odu Neni, Chief Mrs Mary Enukeme and the Secretary Chief Professor Echee Adinma.

Other members of the group who supported the event in various ways and capacities include: Mrs Josephine Madubike, Mrs Veronica Udeze, Mrs Chinyere Ibekendu, Mrs Ogoegbunam Anadi, Mrs Susan Ajulufo, Mrs Teresa Ekwenibe, Dr Mrs Ify Ibeanu, Mrs Francisca Ananwunne, Mrs Nonyem Modum and Mrs Uche Agourd.

The success story of the event will be incomplete if special mention is not made of the tremendous support extended to ensure the success of the programme by the two patrons of the group, Chief George Ibekendu, and Professor Brian Adinma and also two benefactors, Architect Chiedozie Udeze and Engineer Chinedu Madubuike .

We thank the President General of Neni Town Union, Chief Chris Ikebudu and his executive for their material support which has helped to make a success of the programee, and the traditional ruler of Neni, Igwe Damian Ezeani, for his cooperation and support.

We pray that the almighty God richly bless and abundantly reward all that have contributed in making the programee a huge success.
