Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Awka, Right Reverend Onyekachi Nwakanma has decried the man-made myriads of crises including economical, political, religious and social bedeviling the country.

 

Right Reverend Nwakanma stated this while delivering his Bishops Address at the 2024 Diocesan Synod held at the Cathedral of Holy Trinity, Amenyi-Awka, Awka South Council Area.

The synod which was themed ‘Arise and Build’ attracted Bishops, clergy and Laity who came to support the work of the ministry, evangelism and gospel.

 

The Bishop regretted that government has remained insensitive to the sufferings and plights of the people.

Right Reverend Nwakanma stated that Nigeria is abundantly and richly blessed with both human and natural resources but yet it has continued to deteriorate.

 

The Prelate further congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim for their second year in office stating that they have been focused on their quest to make Anambra State a secure and clean environment pointing out that apart from being able to pay workers as at when due, Anambra is gradually rising saying that his recent visit to some parts of the state testifies to that and called on them to continue to do more.

Right Reverend Nwakanma also disclosed that God has called him to raise souls, effect lives and to affect the land and run a holistic ministry, that the door of his denomination called Methodist must be flung open.

 

The Keynote speaker and Lay President of Uzoakoli Diocese, Sir Johnson Chukwu represented by Barrister John Ajuuga said that as the biblical Nehemiah called on people of Israel to raise and build the walls of Jerusalem, they are calling on the leaders, affluent members of the society and Nigerians to build the nation as the country is in a state of dilemma and needs urgent attention to get things right.

The Methodist Bishop, Nwakanma later presented awards of excellence service in Gods vine yard to some deserving individuals including the Chairman, Grand Harmano Academy, Awka, Mr. Chijioke Nwajuani who expressed gladness for receiving an award from the church, adding that it pays to serve God, appreciating Bishop, Nwakanma for his massive work in the diocese both in evangelism and project development.
