The Aguata Diocese of the Anglican Communion has stated that its attention has been brought to a malicious online voice note by one Okuekwe Aguata alleging that some students of the Aguata Diocesan Institute of Arts and Crafts were recently locked out of the school and forced to sleep in a drainage channel.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Media and Communication of Aguata Diocese, Mr. Abuchi Nwozor, described the online voice note as false and unfounded.
He maintained that the said online voice note was an attempt by individuals who do not wish for the mission school to succeed in training people to become employers of labor and useful citizens, contributing to the transformation of society.
According to the spokesman of Aguata Diocese, Aguata Institute of Arts and Craft in Uga is staffed by qualified, God-fearing teachers led by the school acting Manager, Reverend Benjamin Ogbumuo, who are dedicated to providing proper and balanced training for the students, and expressed bewilderment at the malicious nature of the online voice note regarding the school.
Recall that the Aguata Institute of Arts and Craft is an institution established in a strong foundation of rules and regulations, saying that the students who were purveyors of the so called fake online voice note alleged to have been locked out of the school were those who violated the school rules and regulations of not coming in within the stipulated time frame.
When contacted the manager of the school Reverend Benjamin Ogbumuo maintained that the law of the school says that students especially those living in hostel can leave the school premises by three o’clock in the afternoon but must come back before six o’clock in the evening which the two male students in question violated and were punished accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others.
Reverend Ogbumuo disclosed that the two male students were later allowed inside the school premises after serving the necessary punishment contrary to the online voice note that the students slept inside the drainage system.
Aguata Diocesan Media and Communication Directorate is using this medium to urge members of the public especially parents to disregard the purported malicious online voice note, and advised social media handlers to always cross check their report and investigate deeply before publication.
