A cross section of some prominent citizens of Awka Community led by a one-time Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan onInter Party Affairs Senator Ben Ndi Obi yesterday visited some legacy projects being executed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Awka the capital of Anambra State.

 

Among the legacy projects visited by the group were the Soludo fun city near the Awka township stadium, the new Government House and lodge, where they were conducted round the ongoing projects by the commissioner for Housing Mr Pauly Onyeka, the managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority ACTDA Mr Ossy Onuko and his counterpart in the Anambra State Waste Management Authority ASWAMA Mr Mike Ozoemena.

Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Senator Ben Ndi Obi expressed satisfaction with all the efforts of Governor Soludo in transforming Awka into a livable, green, and prosperous capital city describing Professor Soludo as the only Governor that remembered Awka since Anambra State was created in 1991.

 

Senator Ndi Obi recalled how he met successive governors in Anambra State on how to make Awka a befitting capital city but all to no avail, wondered where Governor Soludo is getting all the money he is using to develop Anambra State.

He described the achievements of Governor Soludo in Anambra State within two years as monumental but expressed disgust that all the developmental accomplishments of the governor are being under-reported by the Media.

 

Senator Ben Ndi Obi who was accompanied by a former transition committee Chairman of Awka South local government area Mr Leo Nwuba, some community chieftains including Chiefs Fredrick Chinwuba and Ken Ekwenugo reassured Governor Soludo of continued support and prayers of Awka community to his administration.

The contractor handling the project Mr Wu during the tour at the Solution Fun City said the civil engineering work on the project will be completed around July and thanked the government for giving them the opportunity to showcase their expertise in the state and Awka community for creating an enabling environment for the project execution.

 

At the New government House and lodge, the commissioner for Housing Mr Pauly Onyeka expressed the hope that the ongoing project will be completed by the end of this year and described Governor Soludo as a jinx breaker.

Mr Onyeka told the visiting Awka Community stakeholders that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has never borrowed any fund since the commencement of all the projects across Anambra State as he has awarded over four hundred kilometers of road and completed already over two hundred and fifty, kilometers among other interventions in various sectors of the economy including health, education, Agriculture among others.

 

In a remark the managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority ACTDA Mr Onuko said that what Governor Soludo is doing in Awka are enormous, and used the opportunity to call on the people of Awka to be at the forefront of the wind of transformation of the Soludo administration in Anambra State.

Abuchi Nwozor who was part of the visit reports that the District Governor elect of Rotary International District 9142 Nigeria Professor Austin Nnonyelu also expressed satisfaction with the quality and Pace of work on all the projects visited.
