The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Anambra State Branch has elected new executive to pilot affairs of the institute.
Mr. Raji Adewale emerged as the new Branch Chairman and Mr Keneth Ndulue, vice Chairman in a keenly contested election held in Awka.
In a remark during the event, a fellow of the institution, Professor Chukwunweike Egolum of Estate Management, Nnamdi Azikikwe University, Awka, explained that Estate Surveyors and Valuers engage and give advice in management of real estate and landed properties to achieve maximum returns to investors while also determining the values of lands and properties.
Professor Egolum expressed confidence that the elected executive will move the institution forward to achieve its aims and objectives and emphasized that the institute should be partnered by government to achieve affordable housing and infrastructure for people.
The outgoing Chairman of the Institution, Mr. Chris Okagbue who served for four years, remarked that the services of Estate Surveyors and Valuers are undermined by the citizenry and government alike, thereby taking professionalism for granted, advising the newly elected to inject fresh ideas into the association.
The second Vice-President of the institution’s national body, Dr. Emmanuel Mark represented by Mr. Peter Ozili in his remark, pointed out that to make use of land effectively either at individual, cooperate and government levels estate surveyors and valuers should be engaged.
The newly elected chairman, Mr. Adewale in his speech, expressed happiness for the victory and noted that he would bring his experience to bear to move the body forward in unity and interest of members.
On his part Mr. Ndulue, appreciated member for the love and trust reposed in him with his election and will work for the welfare of the branch in diverse ways.
Other members who spoke including Dr. Gilbert Nwanna, a former Chairman of the branch and Chief Anthony Nwafor an associate member, noted that lawyers are taking over the job of estate Surveyors and Valuers, expressing confidence that the new executive will do well.
