The College arena of the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe was filled with students, staff, management, friends and family members of matriculants as the college held its 2023/2024 matriculation ceremony.

 

The twenty-seventh and forty-third matriculation ceremony of first degree and Nigeria Certificate in Education commenced with a procession and opening prayer said by Reverend Father Benjamin Udeh.

The ceremony was organized by the institution in affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

 

The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh represented by the Director of Higher Education, Mrs. Oyibo Alor in her speech congratulated the new Provost and the students for another phase in their lives and reminded them that Anambra State has always been in the forefront as long as quality education is concerned, urging Ndi Anambra not to relent in giving Governor Soludo all the support he needs to take the state to a greater height.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor of the UNN, Professor Charles Arinzechukwu told the matriculants that their arrival at the College marks a new chapter in the story of their lives.

 

The Vice-Chancellor represented by the Dean Faculty of Education of the university Professor Joachim Omeje explained that they have the opportunity to determine the direction, and tempo of their stories.

He charged them to always remember to be good ambassadors of their families, knowing that while they are in college, they will have the opportunity to learn new things, acquire new knowledge and develop new skills as well as enhance their personal attributes in profound ways that will equip their lives after their education.

 

The new Provost of the college, Dr Justina Anyadiegwu noted that the college is a place where innovation thrives even as she encouraged the newly admitted students to take advantage of the resources available to them in the college to delve deeper into their chosen field of studies.

Congratulating the new students, the provost warned that cultism of any sort is forbidden in the college and that they are expected at all times to be law abiding citizens, as the law enforcement agents will arrest and prosecute anyone who forms or joins any outlawed organization, society or breaks the law and appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for appointing her into the new office even as she thanked the Commissioner for Education and many others for their support.

 

Some of the matriculants, Miss Geraldine Okweze who is studying Computer Mathematics and Mr. Chiadikaobi Akujieze , studying Education Computer Science, expressed profound joy for their admission into the college, describing it as a dream come true and promised to put in their best.

 

Mrs. Uchenna Ugwu from UNN, administered oath of allegiance to the matriculants while the representative of the VC, admitted them into the membership of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
