The Vicar, Anglican Church of The Holy Spirit, Awka, Venerable Onyekachukwu Egwuonwu says Christians are called to follow Christ, possess the gift of holy spirit so as to bear good fruits.

Venerable Egwuonwu stated this in a sermon to mark Sunday service which was themed’ Following like Elisha’ and noted that Elisha stood his ground, monitored and learned patiently and at the end, got double blessings of the holy spirits.

He noted that in the course of following Jesus Christ, Christians should learn the attributes of the holy spirit which includes, love, humility, patience and perseverance as well as self-control, adding that being a Christian is not just coming to church, rather to live Christ like life to gain all his blessings.

A visiting priest at Saint Mary’s Catholic Parish, Awka, Reverend Father Bartholomew Ezeokafor said that through baptism Christians are made the children of God and received the Holy spirit which will guide, direct and lead them all through their lives, reminding them that they are in the world and not of the world.

Reverend Father Ezeokafor further told the parishioners that they are created with different gifts and calls, therefore, they should work according to their calls in service to God and humanity.

Also, at the Chapel of Glory, Nnamdi Azikiwe University UNIZIK Permanent Site, Awka, a preacher, Brother Kingsley Okoroafor asked Christians not to be disobedient to the word of God as it is very important in their lives.

Brother Okoroafor urged Christians to hold on to spiritual principles and resist everything that will mar their heavenly race in order to be partakers of the kingdom of God.

A series of prayers were offered for God’s interventions in the economic crises confronting the nation while thanksgiving climaxed the mass and services attended.
