Contractors handling various road projects across Anambra State, especially in Awka metropolis, have been charged to expedite their actions, especially now that the rainy season is gradually returning

A Lagos based business executive, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, who gave the charge shortly after plying the UNIZIK-Okpuno-Isuaniocha road which is currently being dualized by the Soludo administration, described the road as very strategic to the communities it traverses.

Chief Nzekwe, who is a strong supporter of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, maintained that the ongoing road infrastructure in Awka, the state capital and its environs will, apart from changing the landscape of the area, ensure free vehicular and human movements, in addition to boosting businesses.

He described the efforts of Governor Soludo in opening up various areas across Anambra State through road construction and reconstruction as a welcome development, and appealed to various firms handling such projects to live up to expectations.

Chief Nzekwe, a community leader in Awka, urged the people to always support the move by the government to transform Anambra State, warning them against acts that will stampede the wind of development blowing across the state.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being carried out at the UNIZIK-Okpuno-Isuaniocha road, but expressed fear that if the work is not expedited, the rainy season might cause more damage on it, which according to him, will cause nightmare to inhabitants.

Chief Nzekwe used the opportunity to call on the people to continue with their support to the Governor, in addition to protecting government facilities in their various communities against vandalization.

The Awka-born business executive equally commended Governor Soludo for revamping public water supply in different parts of the state, which he noted will go a long way in reducing the hardship people suffer in search of portable water, in addition to reducing the high rate of water-borne diseases.
