Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has commiserated with the family of the late Professor Anthony Agbata over the demise of their father, which he described as a big loss for humanity.

Speaking at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith Awka, during the funeral service for the deceased, Governor Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, noted that the late Professor Agbata, a retired Medical Consultant at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, was a gift to humanity and a man who used his wealth of knowledge to impact lives positively, and observed that people who passed through his tutelage are now successful in the society.

Describing death as a necessary end for all mortal, the Governor emphasized on the need for people to always do good and make significant impact while alive, as according to him, those are the things to speak for one when he or she is no more.

Earlier in a sermon, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, reminded Christians that the world is not their home; but a temporal place to live, hence the need for them to maintain a close and healthy relationship with God so as to inherit the kingdom of God after their surjourn on earth.

Most Reverend Ibezim regretted that many Christians have lost focus on the heavenly race because they are distracted by modern things of the world; which he said are passing, advising them to retrace their steps for the sake of eternal life.

The late Professor Agbata was the husband of a one-time Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Harrietta Agbata.

The funeral service attracted clergymen, Knights of the church, government functionaries, captains of industry, among others.
