Rehabilitation work is on -going on the Ozubulu axis of the failed portion of the Nnewi -Ozubulu-Ihembosi road.

 

This was in response to the Public Private Community Partnership call of Governor Chukwuma Soludo that Ndi Anambra should partner the government in the development of their various communities

Works correspondent Ngozi Obileri monitored road construction in Ozubulu and Ihembosi and reports that the Ozubulu axis of Nnewi-Ozubulu-Ihembosi road was impassable until one of the illustrious sons of Ozubulu, Chief Alloycuos Ikegwuonu intervenes to make it motorable.

 

At the site, construction of drainage was ongoing on one side of the road with a discharge point off the road.

Speaking to the ABS, Sir Emeka Offomata who is the Chairman of Ebubechukwuzo foundation, owned by Chief Ikegwuonu said the foundation having observed the difficulties their people are passing through while accessing the road, decided to put an end to the sufferings through the intervention.

 

Sir Emeka frowned at those who block drainages in front of their houses with sand to gain access into their compounds noting that such act sabotages the efforts of government in providing good roads to the people.

While appreciating chief Ikegwuonu for all he is doing for the people of Ozubulu, Sir Emeka thanked Governor Soludo for road projects going on in Ozubulu, saying that they will continue to support him.

 

In their separate speeches, the President-General of Ozubulu Development union, Engineer Chris Ononuju the first Vice President of the town union, Chief Boniface Agbala thanked God for blessing the community with an individual who has been championing the interest of the community as they said that the road when completed will be a great relief to their people.

The contractor handling the project, Engineer Onyeka Muoneme said that apart from constructing drainage on one kilometer of the road, they will also desilt one kilometer of drainage channel along the road before over laying the road with asphalt.
