The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has stressed the need for good parenting, describing it as the only way to secure an ideal future for the next generation.
The Deputy Governor stated this in Awka while commenting on this year’s Children’s Day Celebration which had its theme as ” Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of Nigerian Child Through Quality Education and Skill Development”.
Dr Ibezim, who described children as special gift from God, said that parents should learn to prioritize the wellbeing of their children.
Dr Ibezim reminded parents of the need to give quality education to their children, explaining that the current free education provided for primary and junior secondary schools’ pupils and students in Anambra state by the administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo is aimed at encouraging parents to provide their children with quality education.
He also advised parents to ensure that their children learn skills early enough to survive the harsh economic reality in Nigeria even while in school.
Dr Ibezim further called on the public to see child training as a collective responsibility.
