The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, says with the rebranded national outlook of the party under his watch in the past one year, APGA is better positioned to intensify efforts in doing things differently in the country.

Barrister Ezeokenwa stated this at the Regional office of the party in Awka during a press briefing to mark his one year in office, alongside other national officers of the party.

According to the National Chairman, the party has through their “Drive APGA” agenda succeeded in cultivating a disciplined culture within APGA by setting clear guidelines and expectations, upholding the supremacy of the party, thereby promoting accountability and transparency, as well as ensuring that all members uphold APGA’S values without dictates from the hierarchy.

Barrister Ezeokenwa spoke about efforts of his leadership in the party to increase its visibility by introducing novel programmes such as the APGA foundation, APGA next generation, APGA digital hub, APGA Manifesto and APGA membership digitisation which will be officially launched on June 1, 2024, offering membership digital cards with an array of features.

He explained that as a constructive opposition, the party has been offering a strong voice for the Nigerian people and advocating for positive changes in crucial areas such as security, economy, inclusive governance and electoral reforms, and suggesting alternative solutions to the ruling national party.

While stating that the party has always advocated stronger institutions, anti-corruption measures and policies that empower marginalized groups, ensuring that no one is left behind in the nation’s progress, Barrister Ezeokenwa stressed that it is at the heart of what Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing in Anambra as the National Leader of the party, setting new standards for governance in areas of free education without hidden charges, free antenatal care and child delivery service, construction of roads, renovation of schools, new health facilities, economic growth and stability, among others.

On the party’s position on the conduct of local government election in Anambra, the National Chairman noted that APGA believes in the local government as an important structure, stressing that APGA Government in Anambra State is deeply committed to the conduct of local government elections.

He stated that APGA; from the national to the grassroot, has been vocal about local government system in the country, pointing out that their belief is that every state should reflect the peculiarities of their respective state in their local government system, querying the impact of the local government in states where elections were conducted.

Also present at the press briefing were the Deputy National Chairman, North, Alhaji Bello, National Welfare Secretary Honourable Silas Musa Tanko, as well as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Honourable Amala Azodo.
