It only takes someone with a heart of gold to impact people positively; no matter how little.

No wonder the immediate past Councilor that represented Amawbia Ward One, Mr Chidiume Onuora, decided to construct and hand over culverts on two strategic places at Umueze village, Amawbia, Awka South Council Area.

According to Mr Onuorah, giving back to the society must not wait until one becomes very rich; as he said that any little support can help in the development of the society, especially now that a lot of projects await government’s attention.

Mr Onuora, who spent only one year and eight months as a Councilor, noted that he copied from some people he described as his mentors, including the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, and past Principal Secretary to former Governor Willie Obiano, Sir Willie Nwokoye, whom he said have done a lot for their ward in terms of construction of culverts and roads.

He explained that knowing that the office he held was not so big, he started from the first day to save up to be able to leave a legacy in office, calling on others to endeavor to do something for their communities as a way of helping Governor Chukwuma Soludo to make life better and more meaningful for Ndi Anambra.

Handing over the culverts to Umueze village Amawbia, the Chairman of APGA, Amawbia Ward One, Mr Chigozie Obiakor, appreciated Mr Onuora; fondly called “Capacity Councilor” for the gesture, which according to him, will save people of the area a lot of stress of having to go round to access Amawbia by bass, urging upcoming politicians to emulate him.

Responding, the Chairman of Umueze village, Amawbia, Mr Ikechukwu Okeke, thanked Mr Onuora for his benevolence and prayed God to replenish him.

While declaring the culverts open for use, the immediate past Chairman of the village, Mr Emma Nwokoye, who is also an APGA Chieftain in the community, commended Mr Onuorah for his accountability, saying that anyone who manages the little he has with others will perform better if given a better opportunity.

Works Correspondent, Ngozi Obileri reports that members of APGA Ward One Amawbia came out in their numbers to be part of the event.
